“I employ the dark shades of lacquer and the white of semi-gemstone powder to formulate the appearance of duality. It is the contrast between yin and yang, which are never absolute. Shellac also contributes to a colour that makes the artwork’s surface seem to float.” - Đinh Quân

Đinh Quân (b. 1964) was born in Hai Phong city and specialised in lacquer painting at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts. He graduated in 1990.

 

He is one of Vietnam's renowned contemporary artists, with his artworks exhibited in 15 countries and included in significant collections at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Singapore Art Museum, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum of Japan, National Art Gallery of Malaysia, and numerous private collections worldwide.
